The chain serves up Alabama-style barbecue where pork is the start of the show. The meat is rubbed down with a mouthwatering blend of spices and slow-smoked in a pit using oak and fruit hardwoods before being doused in a vinegar-based sop sauce. Moe’s uses a tangy, tomato based red sauce and a mayo-based white sauce for topping or dipping. And don’t forget the pickles and slaw!

“We’ll serve Moe’s core menu items, and we’ll also focus heavily on daily special sides like collard greens, watermelon salad, broccoli and cheese casserole, Brunswick stew, Creole gumbo, fried okra, pickled onions and fried green tomatoes, skillet corn, and much more. There are around 30-40 specialty Moe’s sides that we’ll rotate through,” Duke told What Now Charleston.

“We’ll also have a full bar with bourbon, whiskey, 10 beers on draft and 50 different beers total, plus a Bushwacker machine that makes alcoholic shakes.”

Moe’s Original BBQ was founded in 1988 by Mike Fernandez, Ben Gilbert and Jeff Kennedy. Today, the chain has been recognized as a top BBQ joint by outlets like USA Today and The Daily Meal, and has over 50 locations throughout the U.S.

“Myrtle Beach hasn’t historically been a big BBQ market, but that’s definitely changing as the area continues to grow. We’re excited to be able to bring this brand and a new product like Moe’s to Myrtle Beach,” said Duke, who also owns four Mellow Mushroom restaurants in South Carolina.

Moe’s Original BBQ will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
