According to The Post and Courier, owners John and Brenda Haire finalized the purchase of the building only three days after Laura Alberts officially closed its doors on March 15, 2024. The couple plans to welcome guests to the new locale this summer.

Heavy’s, a name that pays homage to John’s grandfather, has quickly grown in popularity since it first opened at 1137 Morrison Drive in 2022. At the heart of the eatery’s menu is the signature “barburger,” which boasts a double smashed patty, American cheese, sliced tomato, red onion, lettuce, pickles, and their special “Heavy’s sauce.”

Alongside the iconic burger, Heavy’s serves a selection of salads, soups, wings, chicken tenders, fries, onion rings, desserts, and more. John told The Post and Courier that the Daniel Island menu will closely resemble the original, with a few new additions.

Mirroring the charm of its predecessor, the new restaurant will retain the flagship’s design elements, featuring family-style seating and vintage sound systems. Additionally, community-style tables will grace both the dining room and patio, with plans for private event hosting in the future.
