According to plans filed with the city, ALDI will be situated at 856 Folly Rd, taking over the former site of Bi-Lo.

Originating from Batavia, Illinois, the grocery giant already operates over 2,000 stores nationwide, including four in the Lowcountry. In March, ALDI announced ambitious plans to expand its portfolio by adding 800 more stores over the next five years.

ALDI distinguishes itself as a “no frills” grocery store, known for its private-label brands. Just this month, the chain revealed that it would reduce prices on over 250 in-store items.

No official opening date has been announced for the James Island grocery store.
