Pickled Cucumber recently announced that it will close its doors on June 28, 2024, citing a desire to focus on health and family. “I cannot tag all of the amazing customers, employees and friends in this post, but if you are reading this, we want to thank you so much for making this adventure a huge success!” shared the owners.
But while Pickled Cucumber wraps up its journey at 1127 3rd Ave, Anto’s Pizza Romana & Italian Market is stepping in with an array of Italian-inspired offerings. Co-owned by Anthony Ludovici-DeBrigida and his cousin Mike Frugoli, Anthony will lead the new venture alongside his wife, Carly.
At Anto’s, the star attraction will be Pizza al Taglio, a Roman-style pizza cooked in a pan and served as a square whole pie or by the slice. Additionally, the trio is installing a New York water system and other essential kitchen equipment.
Beyond pizza, Anto’s will tempt diners with New York-style slices, sandwiches crafted using Roman-style dough (reminiscent of focaccia, according to Anthony), a variety of salads, garlic knots, zeppole, and a selection of espresso and cappuccinos.
The market will debut with essentials like olive oils, canned tomatoes, fresh pastas, and various Italian snacks. “As we grow, we’d like to grow the market as well,” said Anthony. “I’m not sure if we’ll have fresh meats and cheeses right away, but we’d like to offer all of those things as well.”
Anto’s Pizza Romana & Italian Market will undergo minor remodeling and redecoration in preparation for its September 2024 grand opening.
