Rhema Soul Cuisine will soon open at 212 E Rutherford St. Owners Ronald and Via Childs told What Now Charleston that they hope to open the eatery sometime in August.

Since its Arizona inception in 2011, the Childs have opened three different Rhema locations before transitioning to a rolling restaurant/food trailer. The duo relocated to Tryon, North Carolina last year with the intent to open a shop there, though it’s unclear if this remains part of their plans after moving to Landrum.

Rhema’s menu boasts a variety of classic soul food dishes, including chopped pork and beef brisket sandwiches, beer-battered fish, fried shrimp, buffalo chicken fries, barbecue, St. Louis-style ribs, and banana pudding cheesecake, all expertly prepared by chef Via and award-winning pitmaster Ron.

While preparing their new brick-and-mortar location, the Childs have been popping up at various spots throughout Landrum with their food truck.
