This location is spearheaded by husband-and-wife team Alexandria and Jason Gast, who have ambitious expansion plans for the region. They intend to open three more Basecamp Fitness studios and three Anytime Fitness gyms in the greater Charleston area over the next two years. The Charleston studio is their first, with a second Basecamp Fitness opening in Summerville in Winter 2024, followed by an Anytime Fitness in James Island in January 2025. Basecamp Fitness is owned by Self Esteem Brands – the parent company of Anytime Fitness. The fitness franchise has sold 76 franchise licenses to date and continues to grow rapidly.

The community is invited to the new Charleston location’s grand opening event on Wednesday, October 2, where members of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony promptly at 5pm held by the Basecamp Fitness franchisees and team, followed by an assortment of light bites, beverages, studio tours and more. In honor of the opening, the studio is offering a special “Back in the Game” promotion: two free weeks of unlimited membership with the purchase of a single drop-in class for $30.

“Jason and I are thrilled to celebrate the official grand opening of our first Basecamp Fitness studio in downtown Charleston,” said Alexandria Gast, co-franchise owner of Basecamp Fitness Charleston in a statement. “Fitness plays a huge role in both of our lives, and this opening is just the beginning of our journey with Basecamp Fitness. We’re excited to continue expanding across South Carolina and introduce innovative workout options to the Charleston community.”

Founded in 2013 by Zappos.com founder Nick Swinmurn, Basecamp Fitness is a group workout scientifically proven to give members better exercise in minimal time. The Coach-led format rotates participants every 60-90 seconds between heart-pumping cardio on an air-bike and strength training exercises with an optional 10-minute cool-down available at the end of each workout, featuring a variety of core exercises.

Basecamp Fitness also celebrates every member’s individual fitness goals and personal milestones. The culture of member shout outs and swag for milestones accomplished are part of the DNA. Members are encouraged to track their progress through Basecamp’s mobile app, allowing them to monitor their results and health data. Additionally, members can use the app to schedule classes and stay connected with the Basecamp community in real time.

“We’re excited to announce the grand opening of Basecamp Fitness Charleston, marking another milestone in our expansion efforts across South Carolina,” said Nigel Skiathitis, vice president of Basecamp Fitness. “Basecamp Fitness is more than just a workout – we create a sense of community with each new studio, and we’re eager to see that take shape in Charleston. Working with dedicated franchise owners like Alexandria and Jason is always a pleasure, and we know they’re fully committed to our brand. We’re confident they’ll achieve great success, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to our grand opening celebration this month.”
