On Thursday, October 17, 2024, a driver crashed into the front of The Mason Jar by Fatboys. According to a report by News 4, the driver was a regular customer, and fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

In a Facebook update, owner Charles Lee shared, “We had a car drive through the restaurant and will be closed until we are able to open back up. Sorry for the inconvenience and please pray for us.”

Lee told What Now Charleston that a reopening timeline is still uncertain, but he expects to have more information next week. When asked about a potential GoFundMe for the recovery efforts, he declined, stating, “I’m too proud for that, and I’ve got good insurance.”

“I don’t own the building,” he added. “So the landlord will get it put back together, and we will reopen as soon as possible.”

Situated at 2487 Ashley River Rd in Garden Road Plaza, The Mason Jar has proudly served the West Ashley community since 2013. Known for its classic Southern dishes that honor Lowcountry traditions, the diner offers comfort staples such as burgers, fried green tomatoes, fried scallops, and macaroni and cheese, alongside classic breakfast favorites like bacon, eggs, and biscuits.

Stay tuned for updates as The Mason Jar begins its rebuilding process.
