Verde, a local restaurant that offers fresh and wholesome fast food, closed its flagship restaurant at 347 King Street in downtown Charleston in June. At the time, owners Jennifer and Sam Ferrebee said on Facebook that they opted not to renew their lease, saying: “We will continue to focus on our smaller footprint locations ,” adding that fans should keep an eye out downtown for new activity from the brand.

Now, they may be making true on their promise. Construction permits were filed this week by Verde’s owners for the upfit of a 715-square-foot space at 433 King Street – just doors down from where their original restaurant operated for twelve years. The new location has a history of to-go concepts – in the past three years alone, it has housed Cupcake Downtown, Poke Stop, and most recently FishBowl, which shuttered earlier this year.

Verde currently operates two other carryout locations, dubbed Verde On The Go, at the Charleston Airport and the MUSC Main Hospital. Though details are not confirmed, this new spot could follow the same format. Sit-down Verde locations still operate in Mount Pleasant, Avondale, Belle Hall, and in Columbia at Trenholm Plaza.

A timeline for the to-go concept’s opening has not been announced.
