Florida-based fondue restaurant The Melting Pot has its sights set on Charleston.
According to reporting by Post and Courier, Bob Johnston, CEO of Melting Pot parent company Front Burner Brands has announced that the restaurant chain has plans to expand its offerings in South Carolina, including locations in Charleston and Mount Pleasant. A specific site for either of the locations has not been announced.
The group already has three South Carolina restaurants located in Myrtle Beach, Columbia, and Greenville. Their new expansion plan would up that number to 15 locations across the state by 2025.
The first Melting Pot opened in 1975 just outside of Orlando, and quickly became popular due to the novelty of its fondue offerings. Today, the restaurant has nearly 100 locations across the U.S and Canada. Their menu features a variety of cheese fondues, wines, salads, entrees of meat and seafood cooked by guests at the table, and chocolate fondues for dessert.
A timeline for The Melting Pot’s lowcountry restaurant openings has yet to be announced.
