Originally situated on Long Point Rd, Ghost Monkey Brewery will soon move to a new location, sharing a space with Striped Pig Distillery at 2225 Old School Drive A in North Charleston.

Last May, Striped Pig owner “Pixie” Paula Dezzutti acquired a majority stake in Ghost Monkey. The brewery was initially founded in 2016 by Josh Parker, Patrick Davis, Jim Leonard, and John Kosky. As Dezzutti’s partner, Kosky remains instrumental in the continued operation of Ghost Monkey, ensuring its legacy thrives.

Dezzutti boasts a rich background in entrepreneurship. In addition to her role as the founder, CEO, and owner of Local Choice Spirits, a Charleston-based liquor distributor, she is actively involved in various projects aimed at making a difference in her community.

From launching a Striped Pig-themed gaming app and a young women’s financial literacy magazine to collaborating on yet-to-be-disclosed liquor projects, Dezzutti demonstrates her role as a visionary leader with a passion for innovation. With over 30 years of experience in financial services, real estate development, and entrepreneurial endeavors, she brings a wealth of expertise to Ghost Monkey Brewery.

At Ghost Monkey Brewery, patrons can delight in an array of craft beers, featuring inventive flavors such as the Mallo-Monkey—a cream ale infused with notes of vanilla, chocolate, and ample marshmallows—and Sparkles the Fluffy Unicorn—a cotton candy sour ale that strikes a graceful balance between sharp and sweet.

Dezzutti told What Now Charleston that the brewery is set to reveal its new location with a sneak peek event on May 25th, showcasing its bourbon barrel-aged beer. The new venue will feature a blend of fan-favorite brews alongside new concoctions. Additionally, patrons can expect a continued rotation of dishes from local food trucks and a robust calendar of events, including live music, trivia nights, and dance lessons.

And this expansion represents more than just a physical move; for Dezzutti, it’s about fostering a community hub and supporting meaningful causes. She highlights Ghost Monkey Brewery’s unique “sip and share” program, where a portion of the proceeds go directly to local charities, inviting patrons to join in supporting the brewery’s community initiatives.

An ordained minister who abstains from drinking, Dezzutti adds a unique perspective to Ghost Monkey’s ethos. As she so aptly puts it, “We’re not just about serving drinks; we’re about serving our community… and giving real meaning to let’s drink responsibly.”

Ghost Monkey served its last beer at its original locale on April 13, 2024, marking the end of an era. Stay in the loop by following Ghost Monkey Brewery on Facebook and Instagram.
