In August 2023, reports surfaced regarding Summit Coffee’s expansion from its North Carolina roots to Charleston, with plans for three new locations in the local area. Since then, updates on this development have been sparse. However, a recent press release reveals that one of the cafes will soon open at 408 Brighton Park Blvd Suite 400 in Nexton, Summerville’s up-and-coming mixed-use community. The other two cafes will be located in Mt. Pleasant at 565 Belle Station Blvd and 411 Hibben St.

“The ethos of Summit Coffee is centered around providing coffee and community to the surrounding neighborhoods, and Charleston is a perfect place for those values,” said Summit Coffee CEO Brian Helfrich. “We’re looking forward to meeting our new neighbors in each community and providing a welcoming space for quality coffee and fresh pastries.”
Presently, Summit Coffee operates 13 outlets spanning North Carolina and Georgia, with further expansion underway. Known for its diverse selection of hot and cold coffee beverages, the cafe also offers a range of “not coffee” drinks such as matcha, tea, hot chocolate, and lemonade.
Additionally, Summit serves breakfast, lunch, baked goods, and a selection of beer and wine. Catering to various dietary preferences, they provide gluten-free and vegan options, while encouraging sustainability by offering a discount of $0.50 for customers who bring their own mug.
The Belle Station Blvd location is set to open in spring 2024, with the other outlets to follow. Stay tuned for grand opening day updates.
